How going to the Barre can be good for you

by Trace Dye

Pilates founder, Joe Pilates, drew from principles of yoga, Greek and Roman regimens of exercise, and other integral forms of fitness to create the popular practice we know today as pilates. The practice blends six principles to strengthen the body and the mind:

  • Concentration
  • Centering
  • Control
  • Breath
  • Precision
  • Flowing movement

An infusion of dance principles from ballet — along with therapeutic inspirations from yoga — make for a truly unique experience when participating in Barre Pilates classes at Haven on the Lake. Accompanied by an energetic soundtrack, participants in the Barre Pilates classes at Haven will reap the following benefits:

Immense focus is paid to utilizing our core muscles as an anchor in order to build muscle, tone and strengthen.

Our skilled, friendly instructors intersperse each rejuvenating class with knowledge on the importance of alignment. You will become more enlightened to how your body operates, along with the ways that proper alignment can offer greater comfort and overall wellness throughout your everyday life.

A welcoming atmosphere and jubilant movements allows students to revisit the child within. You will notice our instructors — along with fellow students — spend a majority of class time with a smile on their face.

Barre Pilates utilizes mat and barre work, balls and weights to offer a multifaceted experience that will make the hour fly by.
