Haven’s Summer Workout Challenge
Haven on the Lake members are rewarded for their wellness efforts
By Tracy Dye
Last June, Haven on the Lake’s Summer Workout Challenge tasked its members with the following mission — take as many mind body classes as you can before Thursday, Sept. 7 and receive some very special rewards:
- Take 30 or more classes and receive five additional guest passes
- Take 45 or more classes and receive a Haven drawstring bag and five additional guest passes
- Be one of the first to take 60 or more classes at Haven and receive a gift bag valued at more than $500 while supplies last
Three members — Rose Friss, Mary Eaton and Carrie Heath — managed to receive the grand prize of a $500 gift bag at the beginning of August.
After regularly attending classes at Haven for the past two years, Eaton said she was ready to change up her regular routine.
“This challenge introduced me to unfamiliar classes and instructors I hadn’t met before,” she said. “It helped me improve my wellness both physically and personally.”
Eaton said that Haven’s friendly atmosphere and helpful staff was conducive to her mind and body transformation.
The support of Haven’s staff and other members is also what Friss credited to her completing 60 classes in as little as two weeks.
“My birthday is in July and completing those 60 classes was my gift to myself,” she said. “I wasn’t feeling confident about it when I first started, but what I lacked in confidence, I gained in support from the amazing people at Haven.
Eaton said that the feeling of accomplishment was more important than winning a prize and has continued taking a variety of classes.
“I’ve done things I never thought I could do, like taking six classes a day,” she said. “I’ve lost inches and feel stronger and more confident.”
