Pro Kickboxer Keemaan Diop Uses Haven on the Lake’s Healing Environments to Knock Out Stress
By Tracy Dye
To stay in fighting shape, professional kickboxer Keemaan Diop slows down at Haven on the Lake.
Diop, who graduated from Oakland Mills High School in 2013 and now lives in Silver Spring, uses Haven’s healing environments — which include a hot tub, steam bath, sauna, crystal salt therapy room, tropical rain shower, cold plunge, and movement and relaxation pool — to soothe muscle aches and hasten recovery after tough workouts.
Three months after Diop joined Haven, he signed with Lion Fights promotions. Diop has traveled across the nation and internationally for matches, but he still finds time to decompress at Haven on the Lake.
Learn more about Diop and his experience below.
What made you decide to join Haven on the Lake and how long have you been a member?
As a professional athlete, rest and recovery is as important as training. The healing environments are perfect for after training, because there’s cold and hot options. I use the cold plunge, the steam bath and the hot tub most often, because that combination has been really helpful in relieving soreness. I also have used the sauna if I need to lose some weight quickly before a match.
Other than that, it’s just a great way to relax.
What inspired you to become a kickboxer?
I was bullied when I was little, and my dad signed me up for martial arts classes to help me gain confidence and strength. I remained athletic throughout my life, and six years ago I got really interested in kickboxing.
You’ve traveled around the world and across the nation. What makes Haven stand out from other retreats you’ve visited during your travels?
I feel like other places just haven’t been as calming. Everything is so clean and organized, and the staff also create a really warm environment. It’s hard to be stressed when you’re at Haven.
What can people expect when they go to Haven?
A relaxing place that feels like a home away from home, a peaceful place where they won’t be stressed by the outside world.
Access to healing environments is included in Haven on the Lake’s Refresh membership plan. Access to both the healing environments and classes is included in Haven’s Revive membership plan. Daily admission for non-members is $25.
