Emily loves to empower students through yoga, meditation and movement to discover what she herself discovered when she first began her yoga journey in 2008 — that the physical body and mind are not separate, but one and the same. She believes that when the body and mind are united, they unlock a deep healing power within. Emily loves to instill movement with a sense of play and wonder, for laughter really is the best medicine, and she believes that at the root of all beings is joy and compassion.
Emily holds a master’s degree in yoga therapy from the Maryland University of Integrative Health and 700 hours of Yoga Alliance certifications. She received her 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) training from Kim Manfredi of Charm City Yoga in Baltimore.
What is your favorite form of mind body movement or lesson you teach, and why?
My favorite pose to teach and perform is downward facing dog because there are so many intricacies to it. When you are properly aligned in the pose, it is so good for strengthening the back and core, as well as opening the hamstrings. When I take the time to break down the alignment in downward facing dog, I always see several students having an “aha” moment: “Now the pose feels good!”
What is your favorite song or type of music you listen to when teaching?
I don’t have a favorite song, but DJ Drez is a favorite go-to artist for yoga music.

What is your haven?
INTERMEDIATE. A vinyasa flow performed in a heated room to relax the muscles and increase flexibility. This class is not recommended for women who are pregnant or people with certain health conditions.
