Gabrielle began practicing yoga in 2000. After many years, she found master teacher and guru Sri Dharma Mittra, her beloved teacher, with whom she has been studying since 2010. In 2015, Gabrielle received the honor of being initiated into Sri Dharma’s lineage as Yogini Kali Om.
With more than 1,000 hours of teacher training certifications and many more hours in workshops, immersions and classes, Gabrielle has completed trainings and studied with numerous teachers from many styles of yoga, including: Dharma, Sivananda, Iyengar and Ashtanga. Her teachings are rooted in the eight limbs of yoga, as described by Master Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras.
Gabrielle is committed to teaching and studying yoga; she is dedicated to a yogic lifestyle which includes love and compassion for all beings. She welcomes all students and believes the process of growing begins with receptivity.
She is the author of “My Life List: Yoga Journal,” a reference book and guided journal that leads yoga practitioners from the foundation of yoga to developing their own personal practice and provides a method to record their path along the way.
Gabrielle is the lead teacher and creator of the 200-hour RYT Raja Yoga Teacher Training Course held at Haven on the Lake.
What is your favorite form of mind body movement or lesson you teach, and why?
One of my favorite poses is Kapyasana (crescent moon), because it builds strength and flexibility in so many areas at once.
What is your favorite song or type of music you listen to when teaching?
My favorite song to play during Savasana is “Offering Chant” by Lama Gyurme.
What inspires you?
I’m inspired when I see people work toward a goal and achieve more than they think is possible.
What is a quote that you live by?
I don’t have a specific quote really. One thing Dharma says, and I find myself saying, is “always do your best.” It’s so simple, and when you really put it in action it’s amazing what you can achieve.
What is your haven?
I have two havens. One is being with my teacher, Dharma Mittra; his presence brings peace. My other haven is the ocean, any ocean.
INTERMEDIATE. A fast paced style synchronizing the breath with each movement. Creative sequencing and fluid movement increases agility, mobility and mind/body awareness. Build upon Yoga Basics fundamentals and explore deeper versions of the poses.
