Jennifer has been teaching yoga since 2007 and completed her 500-hour Advanced Teacher Training at the Yoga Center of Columbia in 2013. In 2004, Jennifer suffered a back injury that required emergency surgery. She felt blessed and energized by the healing benefits of yoga and has been happily practicing yoga ever since.
In addition to yoga, Jennifer holds an Aqua Yoga certification and Balanced Bodies certifications in Pilates Mat and Reformer. Holding a master’s degree in modern studies from Loyola University, she enjoys integrating her passion for philosophy and literature into her classes.
Jennifer is devoted to creating a safe and experiential environment for her students that honors breath awareness during moments of movement and stillness. She encourages an appreciation for the importance of alignment through core strength, balance and flexibility — both on the mat and in life.
A lifelong student, Jennifer relishes time with her teachers and enjoys her journey as she refines and evolves her practice and teaching.
What is your favorite form of mind body movement or lesson you teach, and why?
I enjoy practicing and teaching yoga standing poses such as Warrior I or extended side angle. Focusing on the base of the body and finding or drawing on strength in the feet and the legs is so empowering! I love working with grounding energy before or after I travel or when I know I need to make an important decision. By finding our feet on the earth, we find freedom in our bodies and some space in the mind.
What is your favorite song or type of music you listen to when teaching?
I often prefer silence to music in my yoga classes, but occasionally I like to integrate some acoustic based music to help build some energy or calm things down at the end of class. Lately, I have been enjoying “Wonderwall,” the cover version by Ryan Adams, and “Dirty Old Town” by Craig Cardiff.
What inspires you?
My clients inspire me every day. I love helping people find some ease from tension or pain in their bodies and some peace in their busy lives.
What is a quote or mantra that you live by?

What is your haven?
My haven is my screened-in porch with my husband, my three kids, my cats and my music. We love to sit and spend time together.
