Jennifer is an ACE certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor. She has been teaching group exercise since 1984 after attending a class on how to teach aerobics at a community college outside of Los Angeles.
While she has seen many fitness modalities come and go over the decades, her takeaway message is that we should understand the body holistically as it relates to exercise. Many factors play into achieving exercise goals, including stress, sleep, medications, disease, injury, water consumption, diet, exposure to toxins, and exercise choices.
What is your favorite form of mind body movement or lesson you teach, and why?
I was first drawn to TRXⓇ because it feels so much like playtime. I organize class so that participants are safe, the goals of burning excess body fat and building lean body tissue are accomplished, and it is fun.
What is your favorite song or type of music you listen to when teaching?
My favorite song to teach during TRX is one that does not have a strong beat so that participants are encouraged to work at their own pace.
What inspires you?
At Haven, I am inspired by the positive energy coming from the class participants.
What is a quote or mantra that you live by?
I picked up on a useful quote I heard at a fitness convention some years ago:
“You must begin to think of yourself as becoming the person you want to be.” ~Dr. David Viscott
What is your haven?
My haven is being in the wilderness and maybe even hanging my TRX from a tree for a little TRX yoga!
