About Kennedy (Ann-Terese) Melchiona

Kennedy’s love for movement began as a child, having come from a family of professional dancers, choreographers and dance studio owners. She spent her childhood in Miami, dancing at her parents’ studios and quickly developing a talent for tap, jazz and hip-hop.

Kennedy toured the country as a teacher and judge for Dance Educators of America at both regional and national competitions. She has recently performed the works of Michelle Dorrance, Derick Grant and Chloe Arnold. Kennedy infuses her passion for dance with fitness and yoga philosophy, encouraging her students to let go of judgments and find freedom within their body and mind through movement. Kennedy received her 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certificate from Laughing Lotus Yoga Center in New York City under the direction of Dana Trixie Flynn and Jasmine Tarkeshi.

What is your favorite form of mind body movement or lesson you teach, and why?
Dancing while holding Utkatasana (chair pose)! I find it to be grounding and fun! It is a great way to let loose and not take yourself so seriously while practicing yoga.

What is your favorite song or type of music you listen to when teaching?
“Jubel” by Klingande.

What inspires you?
God and community. We are all in this together.

Yoga Basics

BEGINNER. Build the foundation of your yoga practice as you develop a physical and mental connection with the breath. Fusing the concepts of Hatha and Vinyasa, each class focuses on mindfulness, meditation, sun salutations, postures, alignment and introduces yoga philosophies.
