Kerri Cooke has been teaching yoga since 2014 and completed her 500-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher certification through YogaWorks in 2017.
Kerri is a warm and welcoming instructor whose approach is to meet the client where they are and gently inspire them to reach their next level — physically and spiritually. Kerri teaches a Vinyasa-style class combined with moments of stillness and emphasis on alignment.
Kerri played Ultimate Frisbee competitively for more than 10 years. One of her greatest joys while playing was to be submerged in the “flow” of the game. After three knee surgeries, Kerri decided it was time to hang up the cleats. Still seeking flow, she discovered yoga. Over the years, Kerri has continued to explore all the gifts and purposes yoga can fulfill. Yoga has been incredibly useful in Kerri’s life, and she hopes to encourage and inspire others to explore and enjoy the physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits the yoga practice has to offer.
Kerri holds a degree in exercise/sports science and a master’s degree in health and physical education.
What is your favorite form of mind body movement or lesson you teach, and why?
I really love teaching shoulder stand to new students. It’s a delight to see their faces light up as the mind and body come together and they tap into their strength to support the inversion.
What is your favorite song or type of music you listen to when teaching?
I like teaching to Thievery Corporation, a band based in Washington, D.C., They mix jazz, reggae, electronica and world music with a downtempo flow that’s perfect for Vinyasa.
What inspires you?
My teaching is inspired by the analogies that nature provides. Feeling those connections just seems to help it all make sense. It enables me to feel that the life force I see around me in nature is the same life force within each of us.

What is your haven?
If I have the chance to be in fresh water, a flowing river or a still lake, that is my bliss. Otherwise, the hammock in my backyard will suffice!
INTERMEDIATE. A fast paced style synchronizing the breath with each movement. Creative sequencing and fluid movement increases agility, mobility and mind/body awareness. Build upon Yoga Basics fundamentals and explore deeper versions of the poses.
