Megan has been dancing her entire life. She was a Maryland Distinguished Scholar in the Arts for Dance with extensive training in ballet, modern and jazz dance. Her career in fitness began while she was completing her master’s degree in counseling at the University of Maryland. Although she only began teaching fitness because it forced her to work out, it soon became something she loved doing.
Megan has received Group Fitness certifications from the Aerobics & Fitness Association of American (AFAA), the American Council on Exercise(ACE), and is also certified by the Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA). A Master Trainer for LaBlast® Fitness, Megan teaches various formats, including many types of dance, TRX®, barre, Mat Pilates and aqua fitness classes. She has further training in arthritis, aqua arthritis, hydro-cycling, hydro-pilates, Zumba®, The willPower MethodⓇ, GraceⓇ, PiloxingⓇ and more. She values member feedback and strives to provide members with a wide variety of positive fitness and mind body experiences.
What is your favorite form of mind body movement or lesson you teach, and why?
LaBlast Fitness gives me joy and happiness. LaBlast was developed upon the idea that dancing allows you to releases stress, be young again and have joy. When I teach LaBlast or take a LaBlast class, I feel like I am 10 years old again, dancing across the studio floors without any worries or concerns!
I also enjoying using and doing planks in any class, because they are extremely effective and easy to do.
What is your favorite song or type of music you listen to when teaching?
I love many songs; music motivates me. My kids would say I am obsessed with Justin Timberlake and, yes, I am. If I could teach a whole class with his music, I would.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the people in my life who have overcome many difficult challenges. They amaze me on a daily basis and I strive to live life with the same determination they have.
What is your haven?
My family and my children.
