Columbia native Sara Wilson grew up dancing competitively, and went on to study dance and deepen her passion for fitness at Frostburg State University. She is currently certified in all four of SoulBody’s programs (Barre, Unhitched, Zenburn and Power), as well as Schwinn indoor cycling. She enjoys combining elements from different classes to deliver a total-body workout every time she teaches. Sara loves helping others stay active and promote a healthy lifestyle, and regularly holds fitness events with local businesses like breweries, fitness stores, and malls.
What class/classes do you teach at Haven?
Barre and Yoga Sculpt.
What is your favorite form of mind body movement or lesson you teach, and why?
I love SoulBody Zenburn which is a yoga sculpt class that incorporates cardio intervals. Mindful movements from yoga paired with weights noticeably tones your body, while leaving you feeling accomplished.
What is your favorite song or type of music you listen to when teaching?
I love country music and try to sneak in a few songs during stretch tracks. 90’s jams are also great for hyping up a spin class.
What inspires you?
All of my class participants inspire me. I like to ask what muscles they want to target and what music they like to listen to in order to challenge myself to provide their perfect class.
What is a quote or mantra that you live by?
To inspire others, don’t show them your superpowers: Show them theirs.
