Shayna’s classes pair her love of creativity and self-expression with imaginative sequencing and playful exploration of breath, movement and music. She fuses her love of yoga philosophy, mythology, chakras, mantras, mudras and ayurveda to craft dynamic classes rich with spirituality and originality.
Drawing from her personal experiences with injury and healing, Shayna emphasizes alignment and mindfulness, encouraging students to “move like you.” Of the many life lessons yoga has taught her, Shayna is most grateful for its constant reminder that every moment is an opportunity to begin anew and with devotion, discipline and continuous practice; all else will follow.
In addition to teaching yoga, Shayna teaches Lucid Body, a physical theater technique using the seven chakra centers to analyze, discover and express parts of self. While originally created as a tool for actors to create characters, many have studied Lucid Body as a means for energetic self-exploration and healing. Shayna believes in the power of creativity and consciousness, and fuses artistic expression, yoga and Lucid Body as a vehicle for personal transformation.
Shayna received her Bachelor of Science degree from The New School for General Studies, studying creative arts therapies, creative writing and theatre performance. She obtained her 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certification from Laughing Lotus Yoga Center NYC, having studied with master teachers Dana Trixie Flynn and Jasmine Tarkeshi. Inspirational teachers include Deborah Langley, Kenny Frisby, Fay Simpson, Dr. Vasant Lad and Sean Johnson & The Wild Lotus Band. Shayna resides in both New York City and Maryland where she teaches and performs.
