Vicki started dancing at age 8 and participated in sports, dance and drill team in high school. She wanted to find a career that would keep her active and able to share her love of fitness with others. In college, she danced with the Miami University Dance Theatre (Ohio) and majored in physical education, with dance as her minor. As part of her student teaching, she taught at a local gym. She simply fell in love with the different ages of class participants, the variety of classes and being able to help students of different ages to be more active.
After graduation, Vicki was an apprentice with a modern dance company in Ohio. She has been teaching group fitness in a club setting since graduation and added Pilates instruction to her skillset seven years ago. Vicki has found that Pilates keeps a body healthy, especially in regard to back health. She looks forward to teaching barre, which brings her back to her dance roots.
Vicki strongly believes that movement heals and everyone can benefit from it, no matter the age. Vicki is Columbia Association’s regional group fitness director.
ALL LEVELS. Tone, strengthen and lengthen by performing ballet and barre moves with added water resistance. Aqua Flex equipment, gliding discs, and weights may be used.
